Industry Certifications

  • Adobe InDesign

    The Adobe InDesign certificate program is for students seeking foundational skills to effectively communicate using digital media tools. The test will cover entry-level skills expectations for print and digital media publishing.  Students will be able to prepare page layouts for publishing to print, among other skills.  Any student enrolled in Journalism 1-4 is eligible to prepare for the exam.

    Quickbooks

    Accounting students will have the opportunity to become Quickbooks certified.  Quickbooks is the number one accounting software package used by millions of small businesses.  Students must pass the practice exams administered in class with a designated minimum score in order to be eligible to sit for the certification exam.

    Quickbooks certification proves competency in Quickbooks and can help an individual get a job or possible salary increase with their current employer.  The Quickbooks certification exam is proctored, which adds additional validity to the certification.  Certification is a great credential to put on a resume, and employers can verify certification online.

    Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver

    Students will work thru the various programs and watch demonstration videos.  They will complete worksheets that go along with the videos and then complete the projects.  Once they are knowledgeable about the program the will start taking the practice tests thru Certiport.  After they pass the practice tests at least twice, they will be eligible to take the real exam.  Once they pass it they will be Adobe Certified, receive College credit, earn a medal to wear at graduation, and it counts as their final exam. 

    ServSafe

    Students in Culinary 3 who have successfully completed Culinary 1 & 2 with a “C” or higher are eligible to take the ServSafe exam.  A ServSafe Manager certificate is beneficial in obtaining employment in the foodservice industry.  This certificate is good for 5 years and is acknowledged nationwide.  The test is scheduled during the 1st semester in the year 3 of Culinary.  The test is available in a printed edition or computerized and students have 2 hours to complete the exam.

    Building Trades and Construction Design Technology

    This industry certification program offers a sequence of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Architecture & Construction career cluster.  Courses will provide technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher order reasoning and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Architecture and Construction career cluster.  Students who are in their third course of Building Trades and Construction are eligible to take the exam.

    Now introducing Construction Technology which is a series of courses designed to provide students with practical, hands-on training to learn the skills necessary to obtain employment in the highly competitive fields of Architecture and Construction Management. Students will be able to earn up to twenty-two (22) college credits. More information coming soon!

    Engineering

    "Engineering is a 3-4 years course.  Students in Engineering will have an opportunity to get certified in Autocad, Autodesk Inventor,  Mastercam, and Solidworks.  Each of these programs is used in a majority of engineering fields and gives students a head start when pursuing their passion for engineering.  Upon passing the test, students may be eligible to receive college credits for the certification as well as passing the class."

    Students completing the Mastercam Certification program carry with them a useful means of quickly proving and validating their Mastercam skills in an increasingly demanding industry.
